Staff should be able to understand the nature and impact of concussion and brain injuries and have the skillset to be able to deliver a well-planned response to aid future recovery.
Delivered by qualified emergency ambulance medic, Samantha Kendall, this Essential CPD course on brain injury awareness provides you with the knowledge and skills to take immediate and effective action in the event of a concussion injury or medical emergency.
Please note: The course consists of learning through video, task completion and further reading/research. Please consider this when planning and allocating your time. To successfully understand and achieve the objectives from the course, learners are expected to engage in all aspects of the learning process and complete all relevant activities to ensure they can successfully apply the knowledge and skills they have gained in their own setting.

- Realising the key features of aftercare for someone who has suffered from, or is at-risk of, a brain injury.
- Recognising the proper means of addressing a skull or neck fracture, as well as harmful practices that should be avoided.

Module 1: Concussion
In this module we will learn what concussion is, the signs and symptoms and what we can do to help someone with concussion.
Module 2: Brain compression injury
In Module 2, we will look at what a brain compression injury is and how to recognise it.
Module 3: Fractured skull
This module will address the nature of skull fractures, how they occur, how to spot the signs of them and how to respond when a skull fracture occurs.
