Dr Amanda Giordano is an associate professor at the University of Georgia specialising in addictions counselling. She is the sole author of a clinical reference book titled, A Clinical Guide to Treating Behavioral Addictions and co-author of a textbook titled, Addiction counseling: A practical approach.
Dr Giordano works to advance the counselling field with rigorous research and has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. She regularly teaches addictions counselling courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. In 2018, Dr Giordano was awarded the Addictions/Offender Educator Excellence Award from the International Association of Addictions & Offender Counselors.
Dr Giordano has experience as an editorial board member for several prominent counselling journals including the Journal of Addiction and Offender Counseling, Journal of Counseling and Development, and Counseling and Values. Additionally, she writes a blog for Psychology Today called Understanding Addiction and regularly presents on topics related to chemical and behavioral addictions.
