Hazel Parkinson
Hazel Parkinson
Hazel Parkinson is a former county-drugs coordinator and senior youth worker with a BA in Youth and Community Development and PGCE in Lifelong Learning. Through her extensive experience in youth work and drugs awareness training, she has worked to ensure policy and service requirements are met whilst supporting the development of national strategies, policies and procedures for drugs risks.
Hazel has acted as a designated safeguarding lead and has 20 years’ experience at senior and managerial level in local government primary and secondary education, as well as in secondary Pupil Referral Units. She also has a proven track record of developing a new school and preparing it for OFSTED inspections, writing safeguarding policies and procedures, and promoting inclusion.
Her detailed awareness of the TAF/TAC & LAC, CHANNEL/PREVENT, child in need and MASSH processes, and Safeguarding and Pastoral management, means that she has a strong awareness of child safeguarding policies both in theory and in practice. In particular, she has written and developed PSHE and other bespoke courses for pupils at risk of exclusion and developed mentoring and implemented 1-2-1 pastoral support programmes.
