Naureen Khalid is an experienced school governor and education professional with more than ten years’ experience working in school governance.
She started her governance career as a parent governor in a foundation school and is now a trustee in a primary multi-academy trust (MAT). She also chairs the Local Governing Body of a primary school, which she led to an Outstanding rating, and a secondary school and, as a governor, oversees her school’s governing bodies during their Ofsted inspections.
Naureen is the co-founder of @UKGovChat, a Twitter forum for governors, providing networking opportunities, help and support to governors. She blogs at Governing Matters and posts regularly on governance related issues. She is also a Commissioner for the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities.
Course Duration: 50 minutes (approx.) This essential CPD course provides you with the core content you need to ensure you understand the core functions of school governance and the roles and responsibilities assigned to the governing board of a school.
All school governors should have reference to the DfE ‘Competency Framework for Governance’ which sets out the knowledge, skills and behaviours that school and academy governing boards need to be effective. The framework should be read in conjunction with the DfE ‘Governance Handbook’ as stated in the ‘Constitution of governing bodies of maintained schools’ statutory guidance.
