In addition to being an educational consultant and published author, Neil is a highly experienced teacher who still delivers lessons to classes as well as training teachers how to engage students with science.
He passionately promotes the benefits of scientific literacy through his non-profit organisation Rubbish Science, which encourages the creative and collaborative use of rubbish as a resource to help solve real-world problems (with activities such as "How much food can you grow in one square metre of wall space, using plastic bottles to create vertical gardens?').
The organisation runs programmes for governments, schools, home-schoolers, businesses and individuals. Neil has advised various national governments on making science teaching more engaging and inclusive, and has delivered projects and workshops around the world – including in Vietnam, Sierra Leone and Malaysia.
This week's free online safety guide focuses on how to be green with your tech. It highlights a number of tips such as donating your old devices to charity, reusing your smart phones and recycling the batteries.
