Published 16th September 2020

A free online safety guide on voice-activated searching.

Also known as ‘voice search’ or ‘voice-enabled search’, this is a search tool which allows the user to use a voice command to search the internet, a website or an app. It is commonly associated with smart speakers or digital assistants such as Alexa, Siri and Cortana. This technology can be used on smartphones and also operate on separate devices like the Amazon Echo or Google Home. It is particularly beneficial for children with disabilities who struggle with using a keyboard.

In the guide, you'll find tips on a number of potential risks such as adult content, data misuse and online purchases.
