We are thrilled to announce that the ERA Awards 2018 panel have shortlisted ‘Oscar’s Adventures in the Online World’ and accompanying primary school lesson packs in the ‘Primary Resource or Equipment – Including ICT’ category.

Organised by BESA (the British Educational Suppliers Association), the ERA awards highlight and reward the quality and diversity of educational products and resources which aim to raise the standard throughout the industry. Now in their 20th successful year, the ERA’s focus on the resources, services and people that really make a practical impact on learning and the day-to-day work of the teachers in the classroom.

The panel of judges selected National Online Safety for the shortlist according to rigorous criteria, taking into consideration the innovative nature of the products, their impact on teaching and learning in the classroom, and their cost effectiveness in terms of educational aims and results.

We wanted to create a story that would help children understand what it takes to stay safe in the online world in a fun, engaging and memorable way. A hint of adventure opens up endless hours of wonder and excitement within the classroom, while learning how to make safer decisions when using the internet. The character in the book, Oscar, is our very own online safety character who, along with his friends, helps primary school children to make the correct decisions when using the internet – he is used to deliver the key messages in a bright, vibrant and relatable way through our impactful online safety primary resources.

An independent panel of expert judges, most of whom are teaching professionals, will select the winners for each of the Awards who will be announced on Friday 16th March at The National Conference Centre, Birmingham.

Fingers crossed!
