Curriculum Considerations: Online Relationships and RSHE

The statutory guidance on Health Education, Relationships Education and Relationships and Sex Education means schools are under increasing pressure to design a curriculum which is more reflective of the online world, especially as children increasingly engage online. This webinar will focus on how schools should approach this challenge, creating a fair and balanced curriculum which considers the new Ofsted guidance and educates children about online relationships whilst also promoting positive mental health and well-being across the whole school community.

This webinar will benefit school and curriculum leaders (including governors) in both primary and secondary schools, safeguarding leads, those with responsibility for teaching PSHE (which includes Health Education and R(S)E), designated mental health leads and ICT / Computing leads.

In this webinar, we will cover:

  • A reminder of some of the current and forthcoming statutory and non-statutory expectations around on-line relationships; the impact of these and how this might be addressed through the teaching of PSHE / RSHE.
  • Clarifying some of the mental health issues concerning young people and online relationships
  • Issues to consider when planning, teaching and responding to online relationships.
  • Some ‘next steps’ in ways to teach about and respond to online relationships.
