Online Safety Course for Professionals Working with Children with SEND & Vulnerable Learners

Introduction

Online safety in schools is of paramount importance. As the online world evolves, so do both the online risks facing our children and the relevant legislation, both statutory and non-statutory, which directs and guides how schools should meet their online safety requirements.

The role of safeguarding around SEND and vulnerable learners

SENCOs play a central role in safeguarding pupils with SEND. They are a core element of ensuring relevant policies are adhered to, co-ordinating SEND provision and providing the necessary support that SEND and vulnerable learners need. But they don’t work in isolation. It’s just as important for DSLs, school leaders, governing bodies and proprietors to know their responsibilities in relation to keeping children with SEND safe within schools and guarding against an array of online dangers.

What you will learn

Produced in line with the latest policy and guidance, you will learn exactly what online safeguarding for SEND and vulnerable learners means. The course will start with exploring what is actually meant by ‘SEND’ and ‘vulnerable learner’ as well as cutting through the relevant legislation and outlining the roles and responsibilities of those who need to be involved in SEND safeguarding provision.

You will receive guidance on school policy implementation, how to take a whole school approach to online safety and where you can receive further guidance and support. As with all our online courses, you will also comprehensively cover a range of online dangers which children may encounter.
