Opening in September 2017 as part of the Wellspring Academy Trust, the academy is an expanding, inclusive and dynamic academy.
They had a real passion to ensure all of their staff were proficient when it came to online safety, and therefore made the decision to acquire our Certified School Package.
Comprehensive eSafety knowledge
As technology and the online world develops, so do the threats to children and young people, who are becoming more and more dependent on it.
In response to this, Beacon Academy wanted to make sure they were fully prepared for whatever came their way.
Paul Sunley, Assistant Head Teacher at Beacon Academy said: “There is a growing need for staff in school to be aware of a range of aspects relating to online safety, particularly the range of threats that students face from social media.”
“We purchased the Certified School Package from National Online Safety. I wanted staff to be trained and the school to be accredited for online safety.
“The ability to undertake courses and training on an online platform and in my own time has been really good, this was the main reason I joined the programme.”
“We have found the service from National Online Safety to be excellent.”
Resources for all
Highlighting the wealth of resources which the Certified School Package offers, Mr Sunley was quick to point out how National Online Safety have helped improve Beacon Academy’s eSafety provision.
“National Online Safety resources (lesson plans and resources) give us lots of excellent lesson ideas,” Mr Sunley revealed.
“I am also looking to build resources in across the curriculum. Resources to inform parents are a great feature which attracted me to the programme as well.”
“They (#WakeUpWednesday guides) were something that initially attracted me to the programme and are extremely valuable for our school.”
