Cyberbullying and Pupils with SEND: Prevention and Early Intervention | Secondary
This webinar will provide headteachers, senior leaders, SENDCOs, DSLs, teachers and teaching assistants with practical guidance on implementing protective measures against cyberbullying to maximise online opportunities for pupils with SEND.
In an Ofcom survey in 2020/21, 46% of children aged 8-15 who had a health issue, condition or disability which impacted their daily activities, said they had experienced some form of bullying. Of these, 46% reported incidents on social media, 45% using text or messaging apps, 40% using online games, 9% on video calls and 8% on other sites/apps.
In this webinar, Karen Pilling, SEND expert and acting deputy head with an extensive background leading on SEN training in schools, will explain how cyberbullying occurs, its impact on both victim and perpetrator, and highlight actions that schools can take with regard to prevention and early intervention for pupils with SEND, so that they can make the most of every opportunity to thrive online.
