About The Webinar

Cyberbullying in 2020 – Practical Safeguarding Guidance for School Leaders

This webinar will provide school leaders, teachers, DSLs, SENCOs and online safety leads with new insights into cyberbullying and explore practical strategies around safeguarding.

The COVID-19 outbreak has indirectly led to more time spent on social media and online games for children and young people. With more time online, the risk of cyberbullying increases and the standard safeguarding procedures within a school may be impacted due to children being isolated at home.

DfE ‘Guidance for parents and carers on supporting children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic’ states that “everyone deserves to be safe wherever they are - including online and at home. Bullying is always wrong, and we should each do our part to spread kindness and support each other.”

To aid you during this time, National Online Safety have teamed up with Adrienne Katz to launch a webinar discussing how schools can tackle online bullying and how children’s wellbeing and digital lives can be improved through a more tailored approach to safeguarding. This webinar will provide DSLs, school leaders, and online safety leads with new insights into cyberbullying and explore practical strategies around safeguarding.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand how children experience cyber bullying and how it may present as an indicator for further safeguarding concerns

  • Recognise the different types of cyberbullying, levels of severity and reasons for non-reporting

  • Identify those most vulnerable and the links between the risks offline and online

  • Understand how to avert high online risk situations in safeguarding and developing a three-tier approach to online safety education for children

  • Explore the implications for safeguarding policy and practice and how to implement new strategies through reflection practice

Wake call of us all

We are so lucky to get information, advise, solutions to all the aspects of our children and our lives by professional organisations. There are many hidden complications and problems lurking around us which are slowly poisoning our lives. When we educate ourself about it, it opens our eyes and things become easy to handle. I am very proud to be part of this learning process and it helps me to confront and solve the situations more easy with confidence to safeguard my family as well as professionally. I am also able to help others and guide them to take part on safeguarding training to make our protective circular bigger. Thanks to NOS!
