About The Webinar

DfE Digital and Technology Standards: Meeting Updated Requirements

For: Leaders, governors, trustees, teachers

Aim: This webinar will provide you with practical guidance and advice on how you can meet the DfE standards on IT service and digital equipment in order to develop safer, more cost-efficient practices and new learning opportunities for pupils.

Rationale: On 29 March 2023, the DfE updated its digital and technology standards to include guidance and advice on how schools need to meet their responsibilities around filtering and monitoring systems, cloud solutions, and servers and storage. This follows the publication of the standards last year, including updated guidance on cyber security.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding what the DfE digital and technology standards are, what roles needs to be involved and how schools can meet their requirements

  • Recognising what standards need to be met with respect to filtering and monitoring systems and what steps should be taken to ensure compliance

  • Identifying what areas form the standard for using or moving to cloud solutions, including managing access, availability, data protection and backup

  • Realising what standards should be met on servers and storage, including security, energy efficiency and suitable environments

  • Reviewing all previous standards and defining their importance, technical requirements and what actions need to be taken to meet compliance
