What is digital manipulation?
Digital manipulation is the editing of media to make it appear different. This is extremely widespread online, and you may have heard it discussed as ‘Photoshopping’, named after Adobe Photoshop, the popular image editing tool. Although typically associated with image editing, digital manipulation can also refer to video footage that is cropped unflatteringly; while it’s often intended to deceive, intentions are not always to harm. Phone camera apps often have beautification settings to slim the face and hide blemishes.
