About The Webinar

Future-Proofing IT Procurement in Line with DfE Standards

For: Governors, senior leaders, headteachers, digital leads

Aim: This webinar provides you with a clearer understanding of the latest DfE guidance on digital and technological standards – enabling you to make more informed decisions, and leading to safer, more cost-efficient practices and new learning opportunities for students.

Rationale: The DfE has recently updated its guidance on the standards that schools and colleges are expected to meet in terms of the digital equipment they use and the IT service they provide. These standards are intended to support schools and colleges in choosing appropriate items of technology and the right digital infrastructure; crucially, the DfE notes that further updates will be added in due course, so it’s important that relevant staff are aware of likely future considerations.

Learning Outcomes

  • Acknowledging the value of planning ahead with your school or college’s digital strategy, taking into account the fast-changing nature of both education and technology

  • Reviewing the Meeting Digital Standards in Schools and Colleges guidance, specifically the elements which need to be considered in detail when planning for the future

  • Considering how to make the best decisions for your school or college’s digital provision (such as the pros and cons of buying or leasing products), with reference to case studies

  • Understanding the benefits of horizon scanning in terms of digital use to develop bespoke strategies which meet the school or college’s particular needs

  • Identifying practical steps that schools and colleges can take instantly to mitigate future obstacles – such as staff training, thorough audits and clear outcomes for digital investment
