About The Webinar

Understanding How Technology and Online Behaviour Can Facilitate Offline Abuse | Secondary

Webinar Duration: 1 hour 22 minutes (approx.)

This webinar will provide headteachers, school leaders and teachers with an in-depth, expert understanding of the differences between online and offline behaviour, as well as ways in which technology can facilitate abuse in the offline world.

All staff have a statutory requirement to keep children safe from harm, whether offline or online. They should be aware that technology is a significant component in many safeguarding and wellbeing issues and, in many cases, abuse will take place concurrently via online channels and in daily life.

In this webinar, Beth Davies, an experienced safeguarding practitioner and trainer, explores the signs and indicators that show children are affected offline by online behaviour, alongside practical ways schools can mitigate risks and effectively intervene in situations of abuse.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding the varied ways in which technology can facilitate offline abuse and how actions online may manifest in the real world

  • Recognising schools’ statutory requirements and the key legislation, policy and DfE guidance on the links between online and offline abuse

  • Exploring the potential ways in which offline behaviour can reflect the way information, such as videos and posts, can be shared so quickly online

  • Understanding how to spot the potential signs of online issues that are impacting children and young people offline

  • Exploring the practical ways schools can mitigate risks and effectively intervene in situations of abuse that have an online and offline element
