This webinar will provide governors, headteachers and senior leaders with an understanding of and practical guidance on how they can use the right digital infrastructure and technology to provide safer, more cost-efficient practices and new learning opportunities for students.
On 10 October 2022, the DfE updated its guidance on meeting digital and technology standards in schools and colleges. The guidance explains how settings can meet IT and digital equipment standards on issues such as broadband, network switching, wireless networks, cyber security and data protection.
This webinar will provide an expert overview of the different technology standards that schools and colleges need to meet, how they can assess their current provision and what actions they need to take in order to ensure they are complying with DfE guidance and best practice.
Understanding the different technology categories that schools and colleges need to be aware of and how the standards can support more informed decision-making
Recognising the importance of each standard that schools and colleges should meet and the different layers that underlie each category
Realising when each standard should be met with respect to current provision, how existing services are implemented or taking into account existing contracts
Appreciating how to meet each of the standards and the necessary infrastructure and technical requirements needed to ensure compliance
Understanding the relevance of each standard, whose responsibilities they are and what additional information and support is available to make sure standards are met
The webinar will discuss teaching online safety in nursery and early years settings and ways to safely introduce tech skills to the very young. It will explore how digital devices can help children to develop and how to engage parents to align activities at home with what is taught in the setting.
The webinar will examine online echo chambers, illustrating how ideas can take hold of individuals and create pathways to radicalisation. It will then discuss in detail what strategies schools can adopt to reduce this risk (such as encouraging critical thinking and a balanced digital diet).
