This webinar will provide governors, senior leaders and online safety leads with an understanding of the potential increase in cyber security threats to schools and colleges and practical guidance on how they can strengthen their resilience in line with updated guidance from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
On 3 March, the NCSC issued an announcement for organisations, including the public sector and education settings, to bolster their cyber security measures and improve their resilience in response to a heightened cyber threat. It followed updated ‘Actions to take when the cyber threat is heightened’ guidance from the NCSC in January if and when organisations are faced with increased cyber risk.
In this webinar, Gary Henderson, cyber security advocate and director of IT with over 20 years of experience working in education, will provide schools and colleges with an insight into the updated guidance, an overview of the types of attacks to which they may be vulnerable and what measures they can take to protect themselves in the event of a potential incident.
Understanding the current threat landscape and how events around the world can have far-reaching cyber security-related consequences.
Recognising the types of threats that schools and colleges may be open to and how to identify current gaps in cyber security around devices, networks and systems.
Identifying the actions that should be taken to help strengthen resilience and implement fundamental cyber security defence mechanisms.
Understanding the range of advanced actions to consider and how to prioritise plans for improvement and balance risk and investment.
Recognising how to keep up to date with the latest threat and mitigation information and where to seek further guidance and support.
This webinar will provide you with advice and practical guidance on ensuring that your online safety provision aligns with the DfE’s updated statutory guidance, Keeping children safe in education 2023, which comes into effect from 1 September 2023.
