About The Webinar

Technology in Education: Future Opportunities for EdTech in Schools | Primary

This webinar will provide governors, headteacher, senior leaders and teachers with an overview of recent research into the use of EdTech in schools around the world and how they can draw on best practice from other areas to help develop their own approach to EdTech.

In June 2022, the DfE published a research paper which explores how education technology could develop in England, based on current global innovations. The report presents findings on how schools can optimise their use of EdTech and complements additional support the DfE have provided for schools that want to increase their use of technology.

In this webinar, Ben Davies, experienced teacher, ITT lecturer and SLE for Computing and ICT, will run through the research, providing key insights into what conclusions were drawn, what they might mean for schools and how they may want to look to develop their own EdTech strategy.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understanding the background, context and main aims and objectives of the study, including what kind of data was looked at and analysed

  • Recognisng what the key global drivers and trends are in EdTech, what UK schools can learn from digitally mature countries and what the future emerging technologies are

  • Identifying what the research suggests the future of EdTech might look like for schools in England and what the main barriers and challenges staff feel they currently face

  • Realising what the implications of the research might be for schools moving forward and how they might consider using the finding to shape their own EdTech provision

  • Recognising what different areas to think about when increasing use of EdTech and the various forms of guidance and support signposted by the DfE
